Our second edition was entitled „Architecture & Business” and that’s because we believe a set of entrepreneurial skills can do a lot for a designer, especially in the pandemic context!

The future of creative professions relies on collaboration. A good architect is also a good strategist – he needs to connect what he knows, in order to generate new cooperation and business models.

The Challenge Academy 2 offered a toolbox to build competence with – competence any future oriented student should have. The competition stayed at the core of our educational processes; while going online in the pandemic context, we offered bi-weekly courses and weekly conferences, held by guests with a wide experience in architecture and connected fields.

Description

Lorena is an architect and PhD student at “Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism”. She is interested in finding better ways of approaching architecture education in order to prepare ourselves for the on-going changes crossing our profession – in the last 3 years she has been studying the (design) competition as an educational tool. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in Timișoara, studied at UCL Brussels and did two architecture internships in Prague (2015) and Vienna (2017). She is currently a teaching assistant at UAUIM’s 1st year studios – architecture and urbanism. At the beginning of 2020 she founded The Challenge Academy – an experimental educational program, based on connections and competition as a learning tool.
